Christmas Day NFL Preview: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The four teams that played on Saturday last week, will all swap sides and face each other on a super short week here with some Christmas Day NFL action! In the first game, the Pittsburgh Steelers will play host to the Kansas City Chiefs from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania with the kickoff slated to take place at 1:00 PM. This game, along with the second game, can both be seen on NetFlix.
Currently, our friends at Bookmaker have the Kansas City Chiefs set as 2.5 point road favorites, with the total on the Over/Under set at 43 points.
Kansas City Chiefs Preview
The Kansas City Chiefs enter this game off a win over Houston Texans last Saturday. The Chiefs won that game 27-19 in a game where they passed for 251 yards and ran for 124 yards. The defense held Houston QB CJ Stroud to under 250 yards passing and held Joe Mixon in check, only allowing the star RB to run for 57 total yards on 14 carries.
This was the first game that KC QB Patrick Mahomes wore a special brace on his leg, due to his sprained ankle, but he did not show any signs of negativity from the brace. He passed for 260 yards and actually ran for another 33 yards and a TD even with the injured foot/leg.
This week’s Christmas Day NFL game might be a little different and the Steelers are not going to allow him to just dictate what happens without pressure on him all game.
This will be KC’s 3rd game in an 11-day span, grueling to say the least but on the positive side, they have already clinched the AFC West and have the best record in the AFC at 14-1, so most likely will lock up home field throughout the playoffs with a win here over Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers Preview
The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a tough loss on Saturday to their divisional rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, by the score 34-17. The Steelers could have clinched the AFC North with a win over the Ravens but even so, they have still clinched a spot in the playoffs.
The division is still up for grabs so they can not afford any losses at this point. The difference in last week’s game was Derrick Henry. The Steelers allowed him to run for 162 yards! That can not happen and expect them to win.
The Steelers have struggled in recent years against KC. They’ve lost 3 straight games after winning 6 of 7 vs. the Chiefs. They will look to end that streak with a win here on Christmas Day!
Handicapping Breakdown
Kansas City Chiefs just somehow find a way to win games! They play games that seem to come down to the wire but at the end of the game, they are victorious. We think the same thing will happen here. The Chiefs are just a very well disciplined team that find ways to win. With the line in this Christmas Day NFL matchup being just 2.5 points, under that important FG mark, we like the Chiefs to win here. We will take the Chiefs to win by at least a FG.
