The Dallas Stars will head over to Florida to take on the Panthers in a Central Division matchup. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm eastern from BB&T Center in Sunrise Florida.
The Stars come into this game on a terrible stretch of hockey, losing their last four games. The Panthers are coming off of a loss to the Hurricanes, but had won their last three prior to that game.
Dallas Stars Betting Preview: How to end the win drought.
When you break down the Dallas Stars offensive statistics, it would be tough to believe that they have only won five games. Dallas is a top ten team in goals scored per game with 3.3 and has the best power play in all of the NHL scoring at a 33.3% rate.
The main contributor to any success Dallas has seen offensively is Joe Pavelski. The fifteen year veteran is off to one of his best starts of his career. In twelve games played, Pavelski leads the Stars in goals at nine, is second in assists at eight, and is first for the Stars in points with seventeen.
The statistics on the defensive side are just as good, with Dallas only giving up 2.7 goals per game. The biggest factor for the Stars is that they have had four over time losses. Being down double points in the standing is a tough thing to come back from, however, when goalies are playing as well as the Dallas Stars’ goalies are, a couple lucky breaks could get them going and heading back towards the top.
Florida Panthers Betting Preview: Can’t let a single loss affect them.
The Panthers took one of the worst losses of the season over the weekend. Losing to the worst team in the division is never good for team morale, but losing to them while on a three game winning streak makes it sting even more. If the Panthers are going to get back on the winning track, they can not allow that loss to hang around in the locker room.
Jonathan Huberdeau has been fantastic to start the season. Huberdeau is currently leading the Panthers with twenty two points already this season which is also good enough to find him in the top ten of the NHL. Hornqvist is at right wing on Huberdeau’s line and he has been benefiting from Huberdeau’s skilled passing by scoring eight goals so far.
The Panthers use the two goalie system and it works really well when the goalies are playing as well as theirs. Sergei Bobrovsky is 5-2-1 and is giving up only 3.1 goals per game. Chris Driedger is their other goalie and he is 6-1 and is only giving up 2.34 goals per game. If this combo can keep up these numbers, there is real potential for the Panthers to make a deep run.
Stars vs. Panthers Betting Odds & Lines:
The Panthers are 1.5 goal favorites and the over/under is set at 5.5.
Dallas has an overall record of 5-3-2-2- and are 5-7 against the spread. They have hit the over seven times so far this season.
Florida has a record of 11-3-1 and are 7-9 against the spread. When playing at home, Florida is 5-2-1.
Florida is by far the better team in this game. They have also not lost back to back games this season. They should not have any issues finding a win this evening.
