Poker Player Turns $55 Satellite Win Into $42,000 Payday in Costa Rica This Past Weekend
Look up “living the dream” in the dictionary and you’ll see a picture of Dan Stavila. The online poker player turned a $50+5 satellite victory into $42,115 during the Live Cage in San Jose, Costa Rica this past weekend.
Stavila emerged from The Live Cage with the most amount of remaining chips. Along with the 12 other players who survived the event, Stavila received $1 for each of his chips, earning that $42,115 payday. Rounding out the top-3 were Phuc Ly ($18,420) and Anthony Diotte ($14,025).
A total of 33 players entered The Live Cage — the biggest in event history. Stavila was one of 12 online qualifiers who won their way to Costa Rica through a $50+5 buy-in Sunday satellite at Americas Cardroom.
The next Live Cage runs September 28th through October 1st. Players can look forward to another 2-day event with 5,000 in tournament chips, and four levels with increasing blinds and antes.
Those wishing to follow in Stavila’s footsteps can win a Live Cage trip in the Beast and Sit & Crush satellite every Sunday at 6pm ET. The online NLH tournament awards at least three $8,000 packages that consist of the $5,250 buy-in, $800 for travel, $1,000 spending cash, and up to 3-nights’ accommodations at the Taormina Hotel and Casino.
Winners are invited to choose to play in the upcoming No Limit Hold’em Live Cage event in September, or the final Live Cage in November — a Pot Limit Omaha event. While different from the traditional No Limit Hold’em format, the PLO version will follow the same structure as the previous Live Cage events.
