All eyes will be on Werder Stadium in Bremen on Wednesday as Werder Bremen host Eintracht Frankfurt in a game originally scheduled for March. This contest was first postponed by Frankfurt’s involvement in a delayed Europa League tie at Red Bull Salzburg and then postponed again by the league’s COVID-19 shutdown. This fixture will go a long way in deciding both team’s relegation chances as Bremen looks to escape the bottom three while Frankfurt hopes to solidify their mid-table standing.
Back on October 6 these teams drew 2-2 as Milot Rashica earned Werder Bremen a point with his added-time goal. Davy Klassen opened the scoring in the 27th minute for the River Islanders before Frankfurt got goals from Sebastian Rode in the 55th minute and Andre Silva in the 88th minute.
Werder Bremen Betting Preview
Bremen are the worst home club in the league as they haven’t won at home in league play since September 1 with eight losses and three draws in that span though they did win a DFB-Pokal home game in February. While their home form has been poor, the Die Werderaner have collected two wins and a draw since the return to play. Their Saturday road win at Schalke came on a goal by Leonardo Bittencourt in the 32nd minute and moved Bremen to within three points of the safety zone.
Milot Rashica leads the squad with 10 goals on the season but the Kosovo native hasn’t found the back of the net since December 14, a span of 13 league games. Bittencourt has scored Bremen’s last two goals and they have collected wins in five of the six games in which he has scored this season. Czech Republic native Jiri Pavlenka has started 30 of the 31 games in goal with three cleans sheets and a 2.1 GAA.
Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Preview
Last time out, Frankfurt surprised sixth-place Wolfsburg with a 2-1 road win behind goals from Andre Silva and Daichi Karnada who had the game winner in the 85th minute. They counter Bremen’s home record with the worst road recprd in the Bundesliga at 3-1-10 with just 10 points from 13 games. Frankfurt are in 12th place with 32 points but just five points ahead of the relegation playoff spot.
On the season Silva leads the team with 11 goals in all competitions while Kamada has scored 10 times. Kevin Trapp has the most starts in goal among the three keepers and has allowed a 1.88 GPG in league play with three clean sheets.
Werder Bremen /Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Lines
Bovada has Bremen +180 to win, Frankfurt +140 to win, Draw at +250 and the O/U is 2.5.
Something has to give as Bremen are bad at home and Frankfurt are woeful on the road and both teams are playing better over the last few weeks. Goals have been hard to come by for both teams but I think the hosts find a way to snag all three points in this pivotal matchup.
