Lazio vs AC Milan Prediction, Odds & Best Bet – Serie A
The 2026-27 Serie A season has started in promising fashion. Six teams remain unbeaten after three rounds, while Scudetto-holders Inter Milan and the two Roman giants, AS Roma and Lazio, are the only sides still protecting perfect records.
After nailing all three of our Serie A Best Bets last Saturday, we now aim to deliver another profitable Calcio weekend. One of the standout fixtures comes from the Stadio Olimpico, where Lazio welcome unbeaten AC Milan in another early test of both clubs’ aspirations.
The occasion also brings an intriguing reunion for Gennaro Gattuso. The Lazio boss made 468 appearances during his decorated playing career with AC Milan and later managed the Rossoneri between November 2017 and May 2019. Now, he must plot their first defeat of the new campaign.
H2H: Lazio vs AC Milan
The most recent meetings between Lazio and AC Milan point firmly toward another tight contest. Each of the last three clashes finished 1-0 to the home team, including two Lazio victories at the Olimpico last season (one in Serie A and another in the Coppa Italia). All in all, the Biancocelesti have won three of the last four H2Hs across all competitions.
The broader history is considerably less favorable for Lazio, though. They have suffered 73 Serie A defeats against Milan, losing more league matches only to Juventus. And the run of three successive 1-0 results is also the clearest objection to our goals selection. However, both squads have changed substantially since those meetings, and their new head coaches now have more varied attacking personnel at their disposal, in our humble opinion.
Lazio – Current Form and Team News
Lazio’s season began with humiliation rather than hope, as Serie B side Mantova eliminated them from the Coppa Italia with a 2-0 win at the Olimpico. The result immediately increased the scrutiny on Gattuso, who arrived in Rome after an unsuccessful spell in charge of the Italian national team and another World Cup failure.
Whether viewed as a blessing or a failure, that early exit allows Lazio to concentrate fully on Serie A. The response has been flawless: a 1-0 victory at Bologna, another 1-0 win against Genoa and Monday’s dramatic 2-1 comeback at Udinese. Taking six of their nine points away from home makes the start even more impressive.
Davide Frattesi has been pivotal since arriving from Inter Milan. The 26-year-old has scored in all three Serie A games, coming off the bench to decide the opener at Bologna before finding the net against Genoa and inspiring the Udinese turnaround. Fellow summer arrival Albert Gudmundsson then completed Monday’s comeback with an 88th-minute header on his debut.
Gattuso nevertheless has a substantial injury list. Alessio Furlanetto, Adam Marusic, Patric, Luca Pellegrini, Danilo Cataldi and Nicolo Rovella are expected to miss out, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru remains questionable with a muscle problem. Andrea Pinamonti suffered an ankle issue at Udinese but has resumed training and should be available for Saturday’s clash.
Romano Floriani Mussolini, whose surname inevitably attracts attention, is expected to continue at right-back. He replaced injured Marusic early in the Bologna game and has performed well enough to retain the position. Gudmundsson and Matteo Cancellieri are pushing for attacking starts, although Gattuso has little reason to make wholesale changes.
One concern surrounds the atmosphere. Lazio supporters are reportedly preparing to continue their boycott in protest against the ownership, despite the team’s perfect start. That could reduce the home-field advantage against one of Italy’s best-supported clubs.
AC Milan – Current Form and Team News
AC Milan’s preseason was inconsistent, but a 4-2 friendly win over Manchester United (Amorim facing the club that sacked him just a few months ago… was it really a friendly in his mind?) in mid-August provided encouragement shortly before the competitive action began. The Rossoneri then defeated Torino 2-1 and Venezia 2-0 before drawing 1-1 away to Juventus last weekend.
They were seconds away from maintaining a perfect record in Turin. Alphadjo Cisse gave the Rossoneri the lead, only for Federico Gatti’s stoppage-time header to rescue Juventus. Even so, seven points from three matches represents an encouraging beginning under Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese tactician was originally appointed to restore Manchester United’s lost pride, but his Old Trafford spell ended in January 2026 without producing the anticipated revival. His new assignment involves another sleeping European giant. AC Milan finished eighth in 2024-25 and climbed to fifth last season, but missing the Champions League in consecutive campaigns remains unacceptable for a club of this stature.
This is not yet comparable to the prolonged downturn that left AC Milan outside Serie A’s top four for seven straight seasons between 2013-14 and 2019-20. Still, the 2022 Scudetto is becoming a more distant source of pride, and Amorim has been hired to make the Rossoneri genuine contenders again. A return to the top four is the minimum expectation, while a title challenge cannot be dismissed if his system settles quickly.
Meanwhile, Rafael Leao’s departure has ended the recurring debate about his tactical fit and commitment. Amorim now has several combinations available behind summer signing Goncalo Ramos in his preferred 3-4-2-1. Cisse has scored at both Torino and Juventus, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Alexis Saelemaekers, Christian Pulisic and new arrival Omari Hutchinson are competing for minutes.
Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric, who celebrated his 41st birthday this week, provide vast experience in the middle, whether starting or influencing the game from the bench.
Matteo Gabbia is set to be AC Milan’s only confirmed absentee. Former Lazio defender Mario Gila is managing a persistent knee problem but is expected to start against his old club.
After Saturday’s trip, Milan take on Benfica in a Europa League opener next week (a pairing that certainly sounds more like a Champions League fixture, to be honest). Before turning their attention to Europe, however, a positive result in the capital could provide the platform for a strong run through September and October.
Possible Starting XIs of Lazio and AC Milan

AC Milan: Mike Maignan – Mario Gila, Koni De Winter, Strahinja Pavlovic – Samuel Chukwueze, Yunus Musah, Luka Modric, Pervis Estupinan – Adrien Rabiot, Alphadjo Cisse – Goncalo Ramos. (3-4-2-1)
Lazio vs AC Milan Betting Odds and Prediction
AC Milan travel to Rome as +120 favorites, despite playing away to a Lazio side with maximum points. The Biancocelesti are available at +215, while a draw is priced at +210 according to EveryGame‘s betting odds. Both teams to score is listed at -111, with Over 2.5 Goals carrying a more appealing +120 price.
Well, backing the over means opposing a clear recent trend. All three meetings last season ended 1-0 to the home side, while only two of these clubs’ six combined Serie A games this term have produced three or more goals. This is therefore a price-led selection rather than a simple form bet.
There are still sound reasons to anticipate a different type of contest this weekend. Lazio’s injuries have reduced Gattuso’s defensive and midfield options, while Frattesi’s runs, Gudmundsson’s arrival and Pinamonti’s expected availability give the hosts several routes to goal.
AC Milan, on the other hand, have scored in every competitive game under Amorim, and the movement behind Ramos in their 3-4-2-1 setup should test a reshuffled Lazio backline.
At first glance, Both teams to score at -111 may be the safer pick, but the Over offers superior upside at plus money. An early goal could force both coaches away from the cautious pattern seen in recent H2Hs, and Milan’s greater depth may prove decisive late on.
