In the National Basketball Association; the Eastern Conference Finals Game 5 will feature the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road at the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers won the first two games of the series before Boston won Game 3. Cleveland came back and won Game 4, and are now just a win away from their third straight NBA Finals trip.
The Boston Celtics are the top seed after winning 53 games in the regular season. In the postseason, the Celtics downed the Bulls in 6 games, and the Wizards in 7. For Cleveland, they won their first 10 postseason games before their Game 3 loss. The Cavaliers eliminated the Pacers and the Raptors. The Cleveland Cavaliers are -10 at Bookmaker over the Celtics.
Cavaliers Looking for Final Ticket
The Cleveland Cavaliers would like to stamp their ticket to the NBA Finals, and take a few days off before the June 1st Finals. The Cavaliers are coming off their win, where they scored 112 points in a 13 point win over Boston. In the loss in Game 3, the Cavaliers blew a big lead and lost 111-108.
LeBron James has been good for the Cavaliers in the postseason, but Kyrie Irving was the guy that took over Game 4. James and Irving are combining for nearly 57 points per game, while Kevin Love is scoring 17.3 per game. Cleveland scored 110 points per game in the regular season.
Celtics Looking to Stay Alive
The Boston Celtics, led by head coach Brad Stevens are looking to do any and everything they can to stay alive in the postseason. The Celtics are of course without their top scorer Isaiah Thomas for the third straight game. Boston in their lone win this postseason had to do it defensively, as 108 in that game was the least they allowed the entire series to this point.
The Celtics won the Atlantic Division by 2 games over the Toronto Raptors. Boston got hot late in the regular season winning 5 out of their last 7, including their final 3 games. The Celtics scored 108 points per game and allowed 105.4. Boston also ranked 4th in all of the NBA in assists per game, with 25.2 per game.
Cavaliers Move on; Boston Competes
The Boston Celtics are going to compete in this game. Head coach Brad Stevens will settle for nothing less. The Celtics have looked impressive in their last two games without their leading scorer Isaiah Thomas. But, in the end, the Celtics are just not going to have enough firepower to win this game.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have three guys that can really score. While Boston is solid on the defensive side, it just becomes too much for a team like Boston to compete for 48 minutes. When you are making your bet for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, take Boston +10 to cover, but Cleveland wins this game.
