No. 6 seed Alexander Zverev of Germany and unseeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will lock horns on Court Philippe Chatrier in the French Open quarter-finals on Tuesday, 8 June 2021.
Alexander Zverev holds a 2-0 record against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, with the German winning either on them on hard-courts, including a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 win in last year's US Open round of 16, as well as a 7-5, 7-6 victory in the semi-finals in Cologne a couple of months later.
With that said, Zverev is yet to drop a set against the Spaniard and has reached the final in each of these two tournaments.
Alexander Zverev Betting Preview
Sascha Zverev may have had a tricky start to his Roland Garros campaign but he gained momentum and the German is reasonably an overwhelming -874 favorite to defeat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
The 24-year-old German found himself in an extremely challenging situation when his fellow compatriot Oscar Otte (who was a qualifier) earned a 6-3, 6-3 lead, but Zverev eventually rallied his efforts and mounted an impressive comeback to reignite his winning form.
Earlier in the European clay-court swing, Alexander Zverev earned some impressive wins over the likes of Matteo Berrettini, Dominic Thiem and Rafa Nadal en route to his fourth Masters title at the Madrid Open, while he failed to claim another victory over the King of Clay himself as Nadal defeated Zverev 6-3, 6-4 in the Rome Masters quarter-finals in his last match before the French Open.
To emphasize his excellent form, Zverev completely dismantled experienced Japanese Kei Nishikori 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 (in less than two hours) in the fourth round and saved a lot of his energy for the upcoming advanced rounds.
Sascha Zverev was also ruthless against Laslo Đere of Serbia in the third round, while he had to show his character against Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin in the second round as the German had to win two tie-breaks.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Betting Preview
The 22-year-old Spaniard remains the last unseeded player left in the men's competition at the Roland Garros and will hope to play out the best game of his career when he steps on the court on Tuesday.
To give himself the best possible birthday present (Davidovich Fokina turned 22 on Saturday), the Spaniard reached his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final as he battled past the experienced lefthander Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in nearly a three-hour battle on Court Suzanne-Lenglen on Sunday.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina already overcame a high-flying Casper Ruud, who has been enjoying a remarkable clay season, in a mammoth five-set thriller in the third round, as well as the likes of a 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 win over Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan and 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 2-6, 6-4 win over Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp.
Spooky Express Betting Prediction
Once he gained momentum, Zverev has won 11 consecutive sets since he lost the opening two sets against Otte.
Davidovich Fokina, on the other hand, had to survive back-to-back five-setters against Van De Zandschulp and Ruud, and another exhausting match against Delbonis, so we have all reasons to believe that Zverev has the ability to produce an electric display and to possibly snatch a victory in under 33.5 games.
