The NASCAR Cup Series is headed to the Bluegrass State. This Sunday, the Kentucky Speedway will host the Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart. The 1.5 mile Kentucky Speedway underwent a facelift in 2016, and now has one of the smoothest surfaces on the NASCAR circuit. We should see some fast cars, and some exciting racing.
Here’s a betting preview for this Sunday’s Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart.
Martin Truex Jr. +500
Truex has been struggling as of late, but oddly enough, he’s a favorite to win the Quaker State 400. Reason being, Truex has won this race two of the last three years. He’s looking to end his streak of bad luck, as he hasn’t finished inside the top-five in his last five races. Truex is hoping that a return to Kentucky will get him back on track.
Kyle Busch +550
Although Busch has been inconsistent as of late, he has been consistently good at the Kentucky Speedway. Busch has won here twice, and has only finished outside the top 10 in his career at Kentucky. Busch has yet to win a race this season, so he’ll be looking to take the checkered flag here on Sunday.
Kevin Harvick +600
How can Kevin Harvick not be listed as one of the favorites? In the last three races, Harvick has won twice, and finished in second. In his 16 starts, Harvick has four victories, nine top-fives, and 13 top 10’s. Until he hits a lull, Harvick is one of, if not the, top drivers to beat.
Brad Keselowski +600
The Quaker State 400 has been run 10 times, and Keselowski has won three of those. Those kinds of stats make Keselowski a favorite for Sunday’s race. Keselowski is currently sitting in third place in the driver point standings. With two wins, six top-fives, and 11 top-10’s, Keselowski should be in contention for the checkered flag on Sunday.
Kurt Busch +1,600
Busch is the defending champion of the Quaker State 400. Busch has a good history at the Kentucky Speedway, as he finished inside the top 10 in six of his nine career starts here. Busch has also finished inside the top six in three of the last four Quaker State 400’s. Look for Busch to make a run at the top spot on Sunday.
Erik Jones +1,600
Although Jones has seemed to be “boom or bust” lately, Jones seems to be “boom” at Kentucky. In his young career, Jones has three starts here. In those three starts, he has finished third, seventh, and sixth. Look for him to be inside the top 10.
