The upcoming PFL event has a slight change in plans for a few fighters. Anthony Pettis had to withdraw due to illness, and Natan Schulte stepped in to take his place. Now, Alexander Martinez will take on Schulte.
Date: June 10, 2021
Venue: Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, NJ
Prelims: ESPN+ at 5:00 PM
Alexander Martinez (8-0-0)
Martinez is looking to extend his success with an undefeated record on the line. His most recent performance was a split decision against Loik Radzhabov back a few months ago in April.
His fighting resume shows that he can do it all with two wins by knockout, four by submission, and two by decision. He also has put together two first-round submission victories.
He will be attempting his second battle under the PFL banner, which comes off the heels of the recent victory. In his previous battles, he had bounced around from one league to another, picking up wins against quality opponents.
Martinez also had a very solid amateur record of 15-3. With that being said, he has translated over to the professional side quite well.
Natan Schulte (20-4-1)
Schulte returns to action after his most recent unanimous decision loss against Marcin Held a few months back in April. This was arguably a tough loss for him after winning nine straight dating back to 2018.
His fighting resume consists of many well-balanced aspects, with four wins by knockout, nine by submission, and seven by decision. In addition, seven first-round finishes have resulted from six submissions and one knockout.
“Russo” looks to make the most of what he can bring to this banner as he has been with the PFL since 2018. His latest winning streak started with the PFL, as he has gone 9-1 since.
Schulte has wins over other quality locations such as XFC International and multiple regionals. His resume shows that he is built to take on anyone regardless of what league it is.

Schulte steps in as a last-minute matchup for Martinez. He was already prepared to fight, but just a different opponent now.
Previously, Martinez was scheduled to fight against Pettis, who was arguably another tough matchup for him. Schulte and Pettis are different, for sure, but Schulte might be more dangerous.
Schulte is more of an all-around fighter and could take the victory anywhere. He has shown to successfully fight opponents on the ground and bully his way around there.
If this battle makes a turn to the ground, then Schulte wins this one. Martinez could win the striking battle, but he will need to keep Schulte off of him and his exceptional grappling. Look for Schulte to win this by decision.
