Date: May 6, 2021
Venue: Ocean Casino Resort, Atlantic City, NJ
Main Card on ESPN2 at 8:00 PM
Mohammed Usman (7-1-0)
Usman is currently on a four fight winning streak heading into this one. His last victory was a unanimous decision against Terrance Hodges back in August of 2020.
His fighting resume shows that he has a balanced winning record of three wins by knockout, two by submission, and two by decision. He also has five first round finishes, with three by knockout and two by submission.
“The Motor” has all of his recent victories coming from Titan FC. During his time there, he was a perfect 4-0 and will be making his PFL debut in this fight.
Usman had previously fought in Tachi FC and even had one fight in Victory FC. So far, he has established a level of consistency that fans will appreciate, especially with his balanced winning resume.
Brandon Sayles (5-1-0)
Sayles finds himself on a three fight winning streak as he approaches the next challenge. His most recent victory was a second round submission against Dexter Carthon back in January of 2018.
His fighting resume shows that he has three wins by knockout and two by submission. He also has two first round knockout finishes early in his career.
“Man of War” has bounced around from one fighting league to the next over the course of his career, never fighting for one league two times in a row. This can be either good or bad, depending on how you look at it.
It is difficult to determine if Sayles faced consistency in his level of competition since he moved around a lot. However, he also took five years off fighting and did not resume until 2017 to begin fighting professionally again.

Both fighters have an interesting background heading into this matchup. For the market to jump on Usman this way, it makes complete sense.
Sayles has put up a solid resume so far, but it is hard to figure out how well the competition was when he fought. He also took a large five year gap in fighting that will be difficult to make up in terms of experience, and he is also 40.
Usman is the younger and stronger fighter with a balanced resume that has a consistent background in competition. He appears to have the edge here.
Overall, Usman has a lot to like here with his current resume and the performances he has put up. Look for him to come away with a solid TKO victory.
