Cory Sandhagen (14-2-0): Making a Case for the Title

Sandhagen is currently on a two-fight winning streak heading into this matchup. His most recent performance was a first-round flying knee knockout against Frankie Edgar back in February of this year.

His fighting resume shows that he has six wins by knockout, three by submission, and five by decision. So far, he has put up a balanced resume with a focus on striking.

“Sandman” has a striking accuracy at 48 percent and a grappling accuracy at 50 percent. He lands 6.85 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 3.89. This is a great ratio with a clear separation between the two averages.

Sandhagen has a takedown defense at 30 percent and a significant strike defense at 59 percent. He also averages 1.07 takedowns and 0.50 submissions every 15 minutes.

TJ Dillashaw (17-4-0): Trying to Gain Traction in the Division

Dillashaw is coming off of a tough first-round TKO loss to Henry Cejudo back in January of 2019. This loss snapped his previous four-fight winning streak dating back to early 2016.

His fighting resume shows that he has eight wins by knockout, three by submission, and five by decision. This is similar to Sandhagen’s resume, so another quality one here.

He has a striking accuracy at 41 percent and a grappling accuracy at 37 percent. He lands 5.37 significant strikes a minute while taking on 3.03. This is a solid ratio with a low volume of hits taken on.

Dillashaw has a takedown defense at 86 percent and a significant strike defense at 65 percent. He also averages 1.68 takedowns and 1.00 submissions every 15 minutes.

Dillashaw is attempting a comeback in the division after once being the champ. He also had a year-long suspension for a failed drug test, and it kicked him out of the UFC rankings.

Still, the former champ is a force, and Ahmad to treated with respect. However, the younger fighter in Sandhagen happens to be ranked second in the division. It looks like we are in for a close and exciting bout!

Overall, Sandhagen has a great opportunity to fight for the title as he can put to rest the former champ. Look for this battle to be explosive with a TKO victory for Sandhagen.

Spooky Express Free Pick: Sandhagen wins via TKO, at -185
