Kicking off the prelims early for the next UFC event is a welterweight matchup that should be a good one. In the latest division showdown, you will get to see Daniel Rodriguez take on Nicolas Dalby.
Date: Sat, Nov 21, 7:00 PM
Venue: UFC Apex
Watch on: ESPN 2
Betting Preview: Daniel Rodriguez (13-1-0)
Rodriguez is currently on a nine-fight winning streak after taking care of Dwight Grant back in August. He is definitely on track to work his way up the UFC chain if he can continue to dominate.
His fighting resume shows that he has seven wins by knockout, four by submission, and two by decision. Out of his 13 victories, he has four first-round finishes, with two as knockouts and the other two being submissions.
“D-Rod” has a striking accuracy at 48% and a grappling accuracy at 83%. He lands 8.46 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 7.14. He will need to be very careful at this high volume of strikes absorbed.
Rodriguez has a takedown defense at 66% and a significant strike defense at 55%. He also averages 1.83 takedowns and 0.40 submissions every 15 minutes.
Betting Preview: Nicolas Dalby (18-4-1)
Dalby is coming off of a tough loss back in July against Jesse Ronson. That loss snapped a four-fight winning streak.
His fighting resume shows six wins by knockout, four by submission, and eight by decision. Out of his 18 victories, he has three first-round knockout finishes.
“Lokomotivo” has a striking accuracy at 38% and a grappling accuracy at 45%. He lands 3.17 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 3.19. This ratio has slightly improved over his last few fights, so that is a plus here.
He has a takedown defense at 58% and a significant strike defense at 54%. He also averages 1.74 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time.

Both of these fighters have been steadily going in opposite directions of each other when it comes to their latest performances. Dalby started his professional career off strong but has struggled lately since joining the UFC.
Dalby has won only two out of his last six bouts, with one being a draw. In a handful of those bouts, he was not the better striker, or the fight was lost in a decision.
Rodriguez will need to watch his significant strikes here and how many he will absorb. He cannot keep taking that many hits as he has been before getting knocked out by a better striker.
Overall, if this is a striking match, Rodriguez should shine here as he has great cardio to keep the strikes coming.
