Darren Elkins (26-9-0): Can He Build off of His Previous Fight?
Elkins is coming off of a third-round submission victory against Luiz Eduardo Garagorri back in November of last year. This was a much-needed victory after dropping the previous four straight battles.
His fighting resume shows that he has eight wins by knockout, five by submission, and 12 by decision. It appears that about half of his battles usually go to a decision for every stoppage he gets.
Elkins has a striking accuracy at 38 percent and a grappling accuracy at 33 percent. He lands 3.50 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 3.08. This is a solid ratio but could still improve from here.
Elkins has a takedown defense at 58 percent and a significant strike defense at 52 percent. He also averages 2.70 takedowns and 1.20 submissions every 15 minutes.
Darrick Minner (26-11-0): Aiming for Three Straight Victories
Minner is currently on a two-fight winning streak heading into this matchup. His most recent experience was a unanimous decision against Charles Rosa back in February of this year.
His fighting resume shows that he has one win by knockout, 22 by submission, and three by decision. As you can see, he greatly prefers the ground and is not shy about ending the fight early.
He has a striking accuracy at 70 percent and a grappling accuracy at 62 percent. He lands 3.24 significant strikes a minute while taking on 1.40. This is a good ratio with little damage being taken.
Minner has a takedown defense at 60 percent and a significant strike defense at 43 percent. He also averages 3.00 takedowns and 3.60 submissions every 15 minutes.

Both fighters have unique backgrounds heading into this one. Elkins has a rough stretch looking at his last five fights, and it will be difficult to overlook this.
Elkins has a lot of experience in the UFC and has been here for quite some time. However, his four straight losses showed that he was vulnerable to fighters that could control the tempo.
Overall, Minner has a great shot here at doing just that by controlling the pace on the ground and being aggressive right out of the gate. Look for him to land a solid victory by submission to close it out.
