by Ayden Fahlstrom | October 14, 2020 |

Early in the prelims you can catch a great light heavyweight showdown between two excellent fighters. The two being featured in this fight are Gadzhimurad Antigulov and Maxim Grishin.

  • Date: Saturday, October 17, 3:00 PM
  • Venue: Flash Forum
  • Watch on: ESPN+

Gadzhimurad Antigulov (20-7-0)

Antigulov is currently on a three fight losing streak heading into this one. His fighting resume shows that he has 4 wins by knockout, 15 by submission, and 1 by decision.

He has a striking accuracy at 56 percent and a grappling accuracy at 42 percent. He lands 2.89 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 4.95. This ratio is a bit on the negative side, as he takes on a lot more strikes than he delivers.

Antigulov does not have a great takedown defense and has a somewhat of a poor 24 percent significant strike defense. He also averages 8.40 takedowns and 2.80 submissions every 15 minutes of fight time.

Maxim Grishin (30-8-2)

Grishin is coming off of a decision loss back in July. His fighting resume shows that he has 15 wins by knockout, 6 by submission, 9 by decision.

“Maximus” only has one ufc fight on his resume, which was also the most recent loss. In that regard, he does not have a lot of stats to go by.

In that unanimous decision loss, he landed 1.20 significant strikes a minute and absorbed 1.60. He had a striking accuracy at 56 percent and a significant strike defense at 53 percent.

Potential Winning Pick

Both of these fighters have had some successes on their resumes to make this argument for who wins this matchup. However, one of them appears to be having a tough stretch of fights.

Antigulov is very aggressive when it comes to his takedowns and while looking for the submission win. He does not appear to strike very well but at times can hold his own.

Grishin is looking to redeem himself after a sluggish first UFC loss. I believe he will be able to bounce back here and be able to control the tempo of this fight as long as he can defend against takedowns well.
