The feature fight for Invicta FC 35 that we will be handicapping is the co-main event between Alesha Zappitella and Viviane Pereira in the women's atomweight division. The fight is slated to take place over 3-rounds of 5 minutes in action.
Viviane Pereira enters this fight the much more experienced fighter. She is a former UFC veteran of 4-fights, where she compiled a record of 2-2. Pereira has wins over Jamie Moyle and Valerie Letourneau and had losses to Tatiana Suarez and Xiaonan Yan.
Pereira has lost 3-straight fights, all of which were at the 115 lb limit. The issue is she tried to come down to the 105 lb limit and missed weight for this fight. Pereira weighed-in at 106.7 lbs and will sacrifice 25% of her purse to her opponent Alesha Zappitella.
Zappitella enters this fight undefeated at 5-0. She has gone 2-0 in Invicta FC with both of her fights under the promotion going to a decision. Zapitella trains out of Scorpion Fighting System, which is an up and coming gym. She has plenty of training partners to roll with on a daily basis including UFC Veteran Amanda Cooper.
Zappitella will be the smaller of the two fighters, as she stands in at just 4'09 and weighed in at 106 lbs even. You may be saying to yourself that she will only be 0.7 lbs smaller than Pereira but if you watched the weigh-ins you would have seen that Pereira didn't look drained or look like she even tried to get the weight off of her.
This could be a big benefit to Pereira if she didn't try to lose those final 0.7 lbs and didn't need to drain her body to rehydrate. I still don't think it will be much of a difference. Zappitella will keep coming at her and will push the pace of this fight. She will make Pereira go deep into those later rounds and test her cardio.
I like Zappitella to get the decision victory here due to Pereira not being able to dictate where this fight takes place and not having the cardio to last 3 rounds.
