Venue: Gila River Arena
Watch on: ESPN
Lauren Murphy (14-4-0)
Murphy is looking to improve on her four-fight winning streak that began in late 2019. Her most recent success was a second-round submission against Liliya Shakirova back in October of last year.
Her fighting resume shows that she has eight wins by knockout, one by submission, and five by decision. She also has been able to land two first-round knockout finishes.
“Lucky” has a striking accuracy at 38 percent and a grappling accuracy at 37 percent. She lands 3.80 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 3.82. This ratio is as close to a 1:1 as you can get, so not too bad here.
Murphy has a takedown defense at 70 percent and a significant strike defense at 63 percent. She also averages 1.18 takedowns and 0.10 submissions every 15 minutes.
Joanne Calderwood (15-5-0)
Calderwood is coming off of a unanimous decision victory against Jessica Eye back in January of this year. This victory got her back on track after dropping the previous battle against Jennifer Maia back in August of last year.
Her fighting resume shows that she has five wins by knockout, one by submission, and nine by decision. She also has four first-round finishes, with three coming by knockout and the last one by submission.
“JoJo” has a striking accuracy at 49 percent and a grappling accuracy at 55 percent. She lands 6.59 significant strikes a minute while taking on 4.40. This is a solid ratio and a decent separation between these two averages.
Calderwood has a takedown defense at 58 percent and a significant strike defense at 53 percent. She also averages 1.80 takedowns and 0.50 submissions every 15 minutes.

Both of these fighters stack up about the same on paper as you could possibly match. With two similar resumes and even similar averages, this one could turn into a gem on the preliminary card.
Murphy had a rough start to the UFC when she had her first few fights. She went from 2-4 to now 6-4 and has turned her career around in the UFC.
Calderwood has a similar record of 7-5 in the UFC. With that being said, who has the edge in this fight?
Calderwood arguably has a slight edge when you look at her averages for significant strikes and defense. If she is able to land that many per minute and not take on a lot from Murphy, then this will work in her favor.
