Scott Holtzman vs. Darrell Horcher
Our feature fight for this week is Scott Holtzman taking on Darrell Horcher in the UFC's lightweight division. Holtzman is 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the UFC. Holtzman is 34 years old and is coming into this fight off a 3 round decision win over Michael McBride. Both of Holtzman's losses came in the UFC, against Josh Emmett and Drew Dober. Both Emmett and Dober were able to stop the takedown from Holtzman and beat him up with the counter punches. In both of those fights, Holtzman showed signs of gassing in the 2nd round.
Darrell Horcher is 13-2 overall and 1-1 in the UFC. His only loss in the UFC came against one of the toughest 155 pound fighters in his UFC debut against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Horcher was coming off a major surgery and in all reality probably should've never accepted the fight with Khabib. That being said, the fight got them into the UFC and no one can ever question his heart as he accepted a fight for his UFC debut against someone that most of the veterans in the UFC won't even fight! Horcher completely dominated his follow-up fight in the UFC against Devin Powell. On the scorecards, the fight was scored a split decision victory for Horcher but anyone that watched that fight would agree that Horcher won all 3 rounds.
The online sports books are all over the place with this fight and they truly aren't sure who to make the favorite. This is a huge mistake on behalf of the sports books but so be it… We have ourselves a nice little underdog here! Several of the sports books such as 5Dimes and Bookmaker have Darrell Horcher as the dog here and I'm telling you they are making a huge mistake! There is absolutely positively no way that Horcher should be the underdog in this fight.
Horcher has the wrestling to keep this fight on the feet and he also has the stopping power to knock Holtzman out! Darrell has been training at with Jeff Curran in Illinois and I think his striking is going to be crisp, clean and I'm predicting a 2nd round knockout by Darrell “The Saint” Horcher! We will have two plays for this fight. First, we will bet on Horcher over at Bookmaker at +105. We will also throw a unit on Horcher to win by TKO/KO over at 5Dimes for +495. Darrell’s path to victory is coming through his hands and I think he KO’s Holtzman in the fight.
Pick: Darrell Horcher +105 for 3 units at Bookmaker & Horcher win by TKO/KO at +495 for 1 units at 5Dimes
Other Plays for UFC Fight Night 123
Liz Carmouche -180 for 2 units at Bookmaker
Andre Soukhamthath vs. Luke Sanders Under 2.5 Rounds at +160 for 1 ½ units at 5Dimes
Jason Knight wins by submission at +310 for ½ unit at 5Dimes
